Montel Williams Asks What You Did Today of Value

Montel Williams, famous television host, challenged the crowd with, "What three things did you do today that are worth talking about tomorrow?"

He was speaking at the first Health and Happiness Summit in New York, hosted by Dr. Mehmet Oz and sponsored by USANA Health Sciences.

That's a challenging question both personally and from a business perspective.

On the personal side, I spent precious time on a walk with my daughter Marcie and grandson Jayden.  Then we went shopping for an outdoor splash pool to enjoy over the summer in the back yard.   That is definitely worth talking about.

For business, I booked some appointments, left messages, sent out e-mails, all pretty ordinary.  The exceptional part was sending the final copy and photos for our second book to the publisher, a task that grew to be larger than anticipated.

Tonight, I'll tune into a webinar on social media, a topic that often confuses me as things continually evolve and change.

What three things did you do today that are worth talking about tomorrow!

Gen Y Entrepreneurs Need a System, a Timeline and a Big Reason to Succeed

Gen Y and Beyond:  Does your situation hurt enough to make a change?

You've heard it before, that if you keep on doing what you are doing, you will keep on getting what you are getting now and maybe less.  Also, what will you lose if you don't set higher goals and take action to reach them?

A recent speaker, Michael Callejas, One Star Diamond with USANA Health Sciences, who works successfully with Gen Y entrepreneurs, ages 18 to 35, said they need an easy system to follow, where they don't have time to think so much that they become afraid.  Get them into action immediately so that there is no time left for fear.

Have them set goals with strict deadlines that are achievable, with self-determined rewards for reaching those goals and self-determined losses if they don't.

Ask, "How serious are you?"  People quit on themselves, not the business, so give them great success stories to encourage their own possibilities, and remind them daily that they have the power to change their lives right now.

Gen Y are natural entrepreneurs filled with enthusiasm and creative ideas.  They just need a simple vehicle to embrace, and solid guidance to make the most of the opportunity.

What are your three greatest reasons to change your life financially?

Business Leaders Hang Out With Other Leaders to Learn and Grow.

Create momentum in your business by learning from top leaders in the industry, whether for promoting the products or the marketing plan.  Leaders know the keys to a fast start and a forever income.

Dave Wentz, former Chair of the Direct Sellers Association of America and co-author of the New York Times best selling book, The Healthy Home. Simple Truths to Protect Your Family From Hidden Household Dangers, was a speaker at a national event where we received recognition.  That event inspired us and those on our team to take action on a number of fronts to increase the number of people who could benefit from our company.

What local, national and international events are presently on your schedule for learning from other leaders?  What webinars will you be participating in this week, or,  will you be holding your own events?   Share with us so that we can all learn together.

Business Success Is Affected by these First Impressions. What works for you?

"El Gallo" Jose Antonio Rivera, three time world champion boxer, knows the importance of a first impression when facing his opponent in the ring.

His posture, facial expression and menacing stance, would all signal that he is ready to win the match and show why he is the champion.

Of course, he was sporting a vibrant smile when visiting with us lately.  In the business realm, as a leader with USANA Health Sciences, Jose always greets people with a welcoming, sincere smile in the first few seconds, which wins immediate trust and opens the door for friendly conversation.

If you only have 30 seconds to win the confidence of someone you have just met at a business, sports or social event, what else makes the difference for an effective way to introduce yourself and your business?

1.  Catch their attention.  People's minds are filled at any one time with ideas, worries, places to be, things to do.  What can you say that will startle them into attention and relate to their lives?  For example,  "Did you know that over 80% of people wish they could make extra income working from home?"

2.  Be clear on what is most critical for the person to understand.   Nobody likes to be tricked or manipulated into a decision, so you make it clear and concise.  "Well, I show them a simple, effective home-based system for creating a growing, stable source of income."

3.  What makes you and your business distinctive and compelling?  There are thousands of options in the marketplace, which makes decisions difficult.  "In fact, we have a proven training program to help people get off to a fast start and then to continue for a strong income through the years.  Would that make a difference for you or someone you know?"

You have 30 seconds to get through the clutter that cries out for a person's attention.  Make your message capture their attention,  relate to their situation and distinguish yourself from others.  That's real value in a short conversation that could lead to a long lasting business relationship.

What's working for you with first impressions?

Building a Business is about Building Relationships: Don't Pounce!

During a recent business association board meeting, a few members expressed their concern over people who attend the functions in order to "pounce".  We all laughed and discussed whether we are pouncers or bridge builders.  Which one are you?

Pouncers would be described as people who promote their own business, products and services, without prior building of relationships or concern about the other person.  They might play a bait and switch, suggesting that the parties meet to learn about one another's businesses, but the conversation would soon turn to recruiting for their own gain.  Then, without asking permission, they would follow up constantly with e-mails and phone calls.

Wise business people and entrepreneurs build relationships first. How do you do that?

1.  Ask questions with genuine interest, as you would with a friend.  See if you have common ground.  Relax and enjoy the conversation. Where do they work and what do they enjoy most about it?  What is their business and how is it going?  Where do they live?  Do they have a family?  What do they like to do when they aren't working?  Do they travel?  Do they enjoy sports or fitness activities?

2.  Listen.  Ask more questions.  Make it all about them.  Don't interject about yourself or your business, unless they ask.  You are building a relationship or friendship without strings.

3.  When you are given an opportunity to explain a little about yourself and your business, be brief, be honest and thank them for asking.  Don't pounce!  Bring the conversation back to them.

4.  When they show an interest in your business, suggest getting together soon to discuss it in more detail.  Ask permission to send them specific information according to their interests. Can you provide samples of some of the products or invite them to upcoming events?  Think of yourself as being in the service industry.  Your job is to help where you can.

5.  If someone has contacted you in response to an ad or from visiting your website or blog, ask what attracted them and what interests them most.  You could also include some of the same questions you'd ask someone face to face.  Don't pounce.  Build a relationship based on mutual respect.

Can you think of a time when you have pounced?  How could you change your approach?

Three Things That Propel You to Prosperity.

It's not always intelligence,  exceptional talent, knowing the right people or having financial resources, that determine a person's road to prosperity.  Instead, it's often something much more personal.

1.  Passion/Emotional Involvement

This sweet newborn is one of the reasons we are thankful for good health and time and financial freedom.  It's so important to spend time with him without the pressure of corporate demands.   We are so deeply in love with little Jayden, that we appreciate being able be with him at every opportunity.

The residual income developed in network marketing, and in particular, with USANA Health Sciences, and a home-based business, opens that vista to control your own hours and choices.   What's the passion that drives you to pursue greater financial freedom?

2.  Focus

When you work from home, there are many distractions that can pull you away from your goals, from your action plans and your daily work schedule.  It's imperative to chart your daily activities, such as determining when you'll check for phone messages, when you'll participate in social online marketing, and when you'll make follow up calls.  Write out in detail your 90 day, 6 month, one year and 5 year goals, to avoid being side tracked.

3.  Team Effort.

While your own achievements count highly towards your time and financial freedom, greater success always comes to those who are masters at encouraging the best from others as well.  With our USANA home-based business, we've witnessed how those who build a strong team of leaders, generate the greatest level of financial freedom.

So what's on our schedule for the week?  If we don't answer when you call, we might just have baby Jayden on our agenda at the moment, but we'll get back to you promptly.

Friendships Are A Global Benefit At USANA

How important are your friendships and where do they come from?  Do you realize that people who have a variety of close friends, enjoy better health?  It can even affect your financial freedom.

Prior to becoming Associates with USANA Health Sciences, some 16 years ago, our friends were mainly from our church circle.   There were a few as well from various companies, but we had little in common beyond business.

You see me here with Therese Dandeneau, a friend and member of our Success on Purpose USANA team.  We first met her through another team member, and now we count Therese and her husband Bob as good friends.  Because we all care about our health and want to encourage others to be proactive with theirs as well, we have much in common.  She happens to be musical, so we share that interest as well.

During our travels to USANA conferences, cruises and speaking engagements, we've gained friends from around the globe.  It feels good for the soul to have their support, and to support them in return.  We are constantly learning from our friends and feel we are becoming better people because of them.

Cherish your friendships.  Cultivate them.  Make a new friend on a regular basis.

How to Win Beyond the Wavering Stock Market and Take Control

It can be depressing to watch the stock market suffer due to the European debt crisis.  Watch your stocks go up and down daily with the latest news.  This does not lead to financial freedom, but rather financial stress and even failure.

Closer to your doorstep is the U.S. crisis, hanging on the success of the Congressional Supercommittee, which can't come to agreements on pretty well every issue.  The stock market was reeling again today.  As the economy falls, so do jobs and businesses.

How can you take control of your own financial future?  Many options are being suggesterd, including purchase of gold, silver and other precious metals.

Let me suggest a more viable option.

Leveraged, residual income through network marketing, in particular with USANA Health Sciences.
Now, you don't just sit and hope your income grows, like you would with a stock.  It takes consistent effort to build a team of like-minded entrepreneurs, who value their health and their financial freedom.

Is it worth the dedication required, to sleep peacefully at night, knowing your finances are in order and growing?  Are you proactive about your health, enough to take action with your supplementation, weight management and attention to food choices?

We want to share our secrets with you, for creating financial freedom and optimal health.  Join our Success on Purpose blog for regular updates.  Even better, contact us now to become a USANA Asso ciate and member of the Success on Purpose team.

#Financial Freedom. What's your Why?

The difference between those who achieve their goals in life, and those who don't, can often be tracked to their "why".   What drives leaders to take action, and to push through the challenges that will inevitably threaten their progress?

Kevin Guest, President for North America with USANA Health Sciences, shared with us on a conference call this week, four areas he has discovered if you want to be successful in life and achieve financial freedom.

1.  Life tests us for our level of commitment to act.  Constant and consistent effort can move mountains.  Rewards come when you take action until you achieve what you set out to do.

2.  Our rewards are in exact proportion to our service.  In the case of USANA, we are serving others for their health and their financial well being.

3.  What do you radiate as a leader?  Set an example and duplicate this with others.

4.  Judge each day by the seeds you plant, not by your harvest.  You need to over plant to get the crop you want.  Put your fears aside and start with small bites of activities.  Consider the potential of the seeds you plant.

Have you written down your "whys"?  Are they big enough to propel you into constant and consistent action?  Do they drive you to plant lots of seeds for a plentiful harvest?

Contact me to explore this further.
